Former commissioners Hammond and Langley return to their posts, giving newly appointed Chairman Robert Taub a full slate to work with.

The Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) filled its two open commissioners' offices yesterday when the Senate approved the appointments of Tony Hammond and Nanci Langley. The two are ex-commissioners whose terms had expired in 2013. The U.S. Postal Service, meanwhile, still seeks to fill five vacancies on its nine-member board of governors.

Hammond is a former director of campaign operations for the Republican National Committee and served for 10 years on the staff of Missouri Congressman Gene Taylor. He served as SVP of the direct marketing firm FL&S before opening his own consulting firm.

As a legislative aide to Hawaii Sen. Daniel Akaka in 2006, Langley played a key role in the development and enactment of the Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act (PAEA). She led the first analysis of the effectiveness of postal law in her first turn at PRC.

Langley will be one of two Democrats on the board, along with former Chairman Ruth Goldway, who will serve out her term as a commissioner. The White House last week named Robert Taub as the PRC's acting chairman.
